COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A longtime Customer Service Representative of the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities is leaving after nearly 33 years of service.
Linda Hyska officially retired on Friday thus ending a a career with the CBPU that started on March 14, 1988.
Over her years of service, Hyska gained a reputation with colleagues and customers alike as a caring and hardworking individual.
She worked with hundreds of customers a month on payment arrangements and other complicated subjects such as tax collection, billing methods and landlord-tenant law.
She also knew the ins and outs of the City and CBPU’s many services and utilities and she became well-versed in the complexities of CBPU’s many telecommunications services.
She has seen meter reading go from writing reads on index cards to full automation. She saw the Telecommunications Department’s creation with the launch of the internet, cable TV, and phone service in the late ’90s.
Hyska has witnessed 33 years of the CBPU’s growth, advancement, and technological innovation.
“I will greatly miss those I have worked with over the past 33 years,” said Hyska of her retirement. “We have seen a lot of changes, and I am proud of how my co-workers have overcome the challenges we’ve faced over the years. I think I will miss the many customers that I met most of all. Thank you for sharing
your lives with me; I will miss being able to talk to you regularly. I am looking forward to spending more time with my family, especially my grandchildren. I will be at the campground a lot more often and plan to do more traveling.”
