Theresa Ann Weinberg, 89, of Sherwood, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
A celebration of Theresa’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Lighthouse Funeral and Cremation in Union City. Visitation will also be held at the Lighthouse from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2021 and again Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 a.m., just before the service.
Interment will be at Sherwood Township Cemetery.
Theresa was born June 5, 1931 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Joseph and Lillian (Wiedmayer) Kirschenbauer. She grew up there and spent much of the rest of her life residing in the Sherwood area. At 19, Theresa married Junior Gregor, who she lost in a car accident. She married James Lafler II and later married Leslie “Red” Weinberg, who preceded her in death.
Theresa was employed at the Vicksburg Paper Mill and Mendon Plastics, as well as waitressed at several restaurants and bars. She helped run a logging business and bought and sold fur with her husband, Red. She enjoyed cooking for people and helping raise her grandkids. Theresa was hardworking, caring and giving, but never asked anything in return.
She taught everyone in the family, boys and girls, how to sew. You could always find her gardening, canning, cooking and cleaning. She liked playing cards, watching her birds and squirrels and spending time with family.
Survivors include Theresa’s children, Dale (Juanita) Lafler, Scott (Amy) Lafler and Rita (Doug) Diamond, all of Sherwood; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren – she loved them all!
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Jack Gregor and James Lafler III; her brothers, James, Louie, Dick and Donald Kirschenbauer; and her spouses.
Memorial donations are suggested to Lighthouse, P.O. Box 161, Union City, MI 49094 to assist with final expenses.
