COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Department of Public Safety is ready to move forward on the purchase of body cameras for its police officers.
Public Safety Director Joe Scheid is scheduled to appear before the City Council on Monday night during their virtual meeting.
Scheid says the department recently switched to the Watch Guard mobile camera systems in their patrol cars and department officials think the company’s body cameras offer the best options for the Coldwater Police Department.
Watch Guard is based in Allen, Texas and they have submitted a quote of over $33,600 for eight body cameras along with the necessary charging and docking systems. The quote includes the pricing for migration of existing data and unlimited hosting and sharing of the new data.
The City of Coldwater has budgeted $25,000 for the purchase and installation of a body camera system and $9,000 for data storage in the 2020-2021 fiscal year budget.
