JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals broke open a tight game in the fourth quarter on Tuesday night as they opened their season with a 85-64 victory at Jackson Lumen Christi in the Interstate 8 opener for both teams.
The final score does not indicate how close the game was through the first three quarters. The game was tied 33-33 at the half and Coldwater only led 53-48 after the third quarter.
But the Cardinals checked out in the fourth quarter as they used their depth to outscore the Titans 32-16.
Spencer Rodesiler and Brandon Downs each scored 22 for Coldwater while Ethan Crabtree added 15 points, six rebounds and five assists. Evan Sloan also grabbed six rebounds. Lu Lebron had three steals and four assists.

The underclassmen games were split. Coldwater won the JV game 50-29 while Lumen Christi took the freshman game 49-27.
Joe Closson led Coldwater in the JV game with 19 points, five rebounds and four steals. Zach Coffing had 10 points and six rebounds while Gavin Budd had eight points, four steals and three assists. Elijah Sloan had six rebounds.
