BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – An approaching snow storm could be “The Big One” for this winter.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning until 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning for Branch, Hillsdale, St. Joseph and Steuben Counties for a total snow accumulation of between seven to 10 inches.
Calhoun County is under a Winter Weather Advisory until 12:00 noon on Tuesday for four to seven inches of snow.
The warning was issued Sunday afternoon after forecasters said the storm track shifted to the northwest and was expected to deliver much more snow than the two to four inches that was earlier forecast in a Winter Weather Advisory.
Travel is expected to be difficult late Monday evening into Tuesday morning.
After a light snowfall on Monday morning, there maybe a lull in the accumulating snowfall early in the afternoon before an area of moderate to heavy snow moves in Monday evening.
Snowfall rates of one to two inches per hour are expected through late Monday night.
Gusty winds may cause patchy blowing snow, especially in rural areas.
