COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker says in his report for this Monday’s City Council meeting that a developer who was proposing a 200-unit apartment project at the site of the former Federal Mogul property at 600 West Chicago has formally withdrawn its purchase offer of city property.
Coach Road Capital, LLC, of Spring Lake, Michigan was hoping to develop the city-owned land in light of a housing need in the City of Coldwater. The proposed development was first presented to the Council last month.
But members of the Coldwater City Council and the City’s Planning Commission expressed a desire during a special joint meeting last week that the property be used for something else besides the proposed apartment complex. Most seemed to favor keeping it a green space and connecting it to the city’s park system.
Baker says as a result of the company withdrawing its purchase offer, there will no further action on the draft sales agreement which was tabled for a second time at the February 8 City Council meeting.
Coach Road developed the Apartments at Sauk Trail on the east side of Coldwater several years ago.
