RIVES JUNCTION, MI (WTVB) – The Jackson Northwest Mounties jumped out to a 17-5 first quarter lead and never looked back as they defeated Coldwater 64-31 in an Interstate 8 girls basketball game Saturday.
Northwest used a 13-8 second quarter to build their lead to 30-13 at the half. After a 13-13 third quarter, Northwest closed the game with a 18-5 fourth quarter,
Jayla Foster led Coldwater with 12 points while Allison Miller had five points. They both grabbed four rebounds and had two assists. The loss dropped Coldwater’s record to 1-5.
Northwest also won the JV game 38-36. Cara Miller led Coldwater with 14 points while Emma Porter had nine points and Macy Stout had eight rebounds.
In another Branch County girls basketball game on Saturday, Reading defeated Union City 43-25.
