BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Gull Lake had to rally in the second half on Saturday as they defeated Coldwater 36-33 in a non-conference girls basketball game at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium.
Coldwater led 22-18 at the half but the Blue Devils cut the lead to 27-24 after the third quarter and used a 12-6 fourth quarter to pull out the victory.
The Cardinals had a chance to send the game to overtime but a three point shot in the final seconds was no good.
Mia Rzepka led Coldwater with 12 points while Anna DeMeester added eight points and Jayla Foster had nine rebounds. The loss dropped Coldwater’s record to 2-7.

Gull Lake won both of the underclassman games. They took the JV game 38-17. Emma Porter led Coldwater with nine points. Gull Lake won the freshman contest 64-8.
In other Branch County girls basketball games on Saturday, Bronson pulled away in the second half to defeat Quincy 50-20. The Vikings dominated the second half after they led 23-12 at halftime. Haylie Wilson led Bronson with 13 points while Karissa Gest added 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
The Vikings are now 5-3 overall and 5-2 in the Big Eight Conference. The Orioles dropped to 1-6.
Union City lost at Olivet 55-9.
