BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater went 1-2 on Saturday at the Portage Northern Quad Meet. They defeated the host team but lost to Zeeland East and Thornapple-Kellogg. Coldwater’s Logan Pike went 3-0 for the day.
The Bronson Vikings picked up two more wins on Saturday at the Constantine Quad meet but lost to the host Falcons. The Vikings defeated Springport 42-35 and Edwardsburg 54-26. Constantine defeated Bronson 43-36. Perry Lake (112), Logan Long (119), Ben Thomas Grate (140) and Craig Tappenden (160) all went 3-0 on the day for the Vikings while Carson Norton (152), Jacob Britten (189) and Justin Blankenship (215) all went 2-1.
Union City won all three of their matches at the Niles Brandywine Invitational as they defeated Coloma 63-12, Maple Valley 63-3 and Brandywine 45-30. Brayton Mears and Landyn Crance scored victories over state-ranked wrestlers as they were among eight Chargers who went 3-0. Mears defeated Caeleb Ishmael who is the eighth ranked wrestler in Division 3 at 125 pounds and Jesse Brumm who is the second ranked wrestling in Division 4 at 130 pounds. Crance scored a pin over Drake Heath who is ranked 16th in Division 3 at 119 pounds. Other Chargers who went 3-0 were Garrett Iobe, Grady Iobe, Isaac Baumgardner, Andrew Smith, Wyatt King and Colton Russell. Chargers who went 2-1 were Dustin Heckman, Garrett Halder and Owen Jackson.
Quincy had a 2-1 day at the Saranac Quad Meet. They defeated the host school 36-30 and Delton Kellogg 34-30 but lost to Michigan Center 42-30. Going 3-0 on the day were Gerl Pish, Jacob Reif and Braiden Mosher while Tyler Saterlee and Davin George went 2-1.
