BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater improved to 7-1 on Tuesday night as they defeated Jackson Lumen Christi 63-38 in an Interstate 8 game at the Coach Floyd Eby Gynasium.
The Cardinals were in control throughout the evening as they led 17-11 after the first quarter and 39-23 at the half.
A 17-9 third quarter put the game away and gave Coldwater a 56-32 edge going into the final stanza.
Brandon Downs led Coldwater with 23 points while Evan Sloan had 10 points and five rebounds. Deandre Douglas added eight points. Spencer Rodesiler had seven points and five assists.

Coldwater also won the JV game 39-28 as Joe Closson had 14 points and five steals, Elijah Sloan had 12 points and four rebounds and Aiden Marsden had 11 points, six rebounds and four steals. Lumen Christi won the freshman game 32-28. Tyson Roby led Coldwater with 14 points while Keavyn Zabonick had six rebounds.
In other Branch County boys basketball, Bronson got back to the .500 mark with a 65-39 win over Springport. Bronson has won three of their last four to improve to 5-5 overall and 3-4 in the Big Eight Conference.
Quincy went above .500 with an impressive 63-41 victory at Reading. Kyle Rodesiler led the Orioles with 19 points while Kyler Economou had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Sam Sawyer had 10 points. The Orioles are now 5-4 overall and 4-3 in the Big 8.
Union City lost at home to Big 8 Conference co-leader Jonesville 63-41. Jonesville and Homer are tied for first with 7-1 records. The loss dropped Union City’s record to 2-6.
