BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals snapped a 26-26 halftime tie by outscoring the Marshall Red Hawks 22-6 in the third quarter on Saturday as they defeated the Redhawks 56-45 in an Interstate 8 game at Marshall.
Three Cardinals finished in double figures led by Brandon Downs with 19 points. Ethan Crabtree had 13 points and four rebounds. Lu LeBron had 11 points, eight assists and six steals.
The win improved Coldwater’s record to 9-1.

The underclassmen games were split. Coldwater won the J.V. contest 43-34 over Marshall. Zach Coffing had 11 points while Aiden Marsden had 10 points. They both had six rebounds. Marshall won the freshman game 43-34. Evan Porter had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Coldwater.
Bronson saw their three game winning streak snapped as they lost in overtime at Concord 68-59. The Yellow Jackets outscored the Vikings 14-5 in the extra session. Mason Harris and Reagan Mayer both had 15 points for the Vikings while Aden Hathaway added 11 points. Mayer also had three assists and five steals. Bronson is now 6-6 overall and 4-5 in the Big 8 Conference.
Jonesville pulled away in the final quarter as they defeated Quincy 53-40. The Orioles only trailed the Comets 40-37 after the third quarter but the Comets outscored Quincy 13-3 in the final stanza. Quincy is now 4-5 in the Big 8 and 5-6 overall.
Union City lost their fifth straight as they were beaten at Reading 51-48. The loss dropped the Chargers record to 2-8.
