BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals went 2-1 at the Olivet Quad Meet on Friday. The Cardinals defeated Olivet 41-24 and Gobles 36-24.
They came close to a third win as they lost to Homer 37-36 on a tiebreaker. The criteria for breaking the tie went down to the most pins. Homer was awarded the win as they had three pins while the Cardinals had two.
Seventh-ranked Union City picked up three more wins on their home mat Friday night as they defeated eighth-ranked Schoolcraft 42-24, Blissfield 66-6 and Sand Creek 59-12. With the three wins, Union City extended its winning streak to 10 matches and improved their overall record to 16-4.
Seven Chargers went 3-0 including Brayton Mears and Landyn Crance as they defeated state-ranked opponents. Also going 3-0 were Garrett Iobe, Grady Iobe, Wyatt King, Garrett Halder and Dustin Heckman.
