BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The month of March means winter is transitioning to spring.
As usual this time of year after the snow melts and the ground dries out, fire crews from around Branch County have to deal with grass fires.
At least three took place in Branch County within 10 minutes of each other early Monday afternoon.
Quincy firefighters were sent to the first one at about 12:50 p.m. in the 800 block of Clarendon Road.
Union City firefighters then went to the 300 block of West Hayner Road and Bronson firefighters responded to a grass fire that broke out near West Central and Log Roads.
Dry conditions are not helping the situation. It has not rained yet in the month of March and the next mention of precipitation in the forecast is not until Wednesday.
The last rainfall which was recorded at the M.S.U. Extension Service weather station at the Bloom Dairy Farm was on February 27.
