COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council agreed on Monday night to place a purchase offer for a vacant lot at 28 Thompson Blvd. on the table for 30 days.
Formal action on the Sales Agreement is scheduled to take place during the Council’s meeting on April 12.
Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker told the Council that two persons who recently moved to the community made a $20,000 offer on the property which was acquired by the City in 2018 from the Branch Intermediate School District.
He says the purchasers want to buy the property for the purpose of building a home.
It was one of eight parcels bought by the City at a total price of $44,000 or $5,500 apiece.
Baker says there is also value added as a result of the extension of the road and utilities that previously did not exist to serve these lots.
The City Charter requires that when public property is sold, the conveyance must remain on the table for 30 days. During this period of time, other bids may be received and considered by the City Council.
