COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Lady Cardinal gymnastics team hosted Jackson Area Gymnastics on Monday night in the Coldwater auxiliary gymnasium. The Cardinals put together their highest score of the season, but came up short against the six school cooperative program, 134.025 to 140.025.
Coldwater coach Kim Nichols said,“The girls put together some of their best performances of the season tonight. It was a great team effort and they put a lot of heart into their performances. I am very proud of the teamwork and energy they put forth this evening.”
Coldwater is now 3-2 in the conference with the loss. They have two more conference matchups before the end of the season.
Coldwater began the competition on the vault, posting 33.325 points as a team. Senior Abigail Travelbee placed fourth for the Cardinals earning 8.45 points.
Coldwater performed their best bar routines of the season for a season high team score of 33.5 points. Senior Abby Travelbee led the way, earning the top honors with her season best performance of 8.9 points.
Coldwater stuck five of their beam routines to tally 32.575 points on the 4 inch wide apparatus. Once again it was their best team score of the season. Layla Schoch (5th) was the top scorer for Coldwater, after sticking her routine and earning 8.35 points.
The Cardinals concluded their competition on the floor exercise, where the team posted 34.625 points, their second highest of the season. Once again, Schoch (5th) led the Cards on the floor, earning 8.875 points for her efforts.
In the all-around results, Travelbee posted 34.125 points to finish in fourth place overall. Schoch was right behind with her tally of 33.925 points for fifth place.
