COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A man was arrested by Coldwater Police Thursday afternoon after his vehicle crashed into a telephone pole at the intersection of East State Street and Michigan Avenue.
The whole series of incidents started when a witness reported to police a man was possibly overdosing on drugs on Cutter Avenue.
The suspect then got into a vehicle and drove off.
The crash took place at about 1:55 p.m.. It knocked some wires into the street and caused a small grass fire nearby. No injuries were reported.
A passerby then picked up the suspect but that vehicle was stopped by police a short distance away.
The suspect in the crash was taken to the Branch County Jail and booked on charges of Operating While Under the Influence of Drugs, Driving While Suspended and Failure to Stop and Identify.
He was later freed from the jail after posting bond. A Branch County District Court arraignment for the reading of formal charges maybe held at a later date.
