COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A man who was charged in connection with a bizarre garage break-in on Clarke Avenue last October was sentenced on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
28-year-old Peeter Ora Berry entered guilty pleas in three cases.
He received concurrent jail sentences of between nine and 12 months and was placed on probation for two years.
Berry was given credit for 143 days already served in jail. He can be released to the Twin County probation program once transportation is arranged.
In connection with the garage break in, Berry admitted his guilt to a charge of larceny from a building.
Coldwater Police say the owner of the Clarke Avenue property where the break in took place held Berry at gun point in the garage until officers arrived. A home video security system captured the entire incident.
In the two other unrelated cases, Berry entered guilty pleas to attempted larceny of weapons and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
All other charges in the three cases were dismissed by prosecutors in exchange for the guilty pleas.
