(Reuters) – At least four Asian women were shot dead at two day spas across the street from each other in Atlanta on Tuesday, and police said they were searching for at least one suspect.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution newspaper reported that three other people were shot at a day spa in Cherokee County, Georgia, which is about 100 miles from Atlanta. Reuters could not immediately confirm that report.
In Atlanta, police officers responding to a call of a “robbery in progress” arrived at the first spa to find three people shot dead there, Police Chief Rodney Bryant told reporters at an impromptu news conference.
While investigating the initial shooting report, the officers were called from a second spa across the street where another victim was shot dead, Bryant said.
Bryant, who called the case an “extreme priority,” said no suspects had been taken into custody.
