COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Capri Drive-In has announced they will open for the 2021 season next weekend.
The movies to be shown March 26, 27 and 28 will be posted in the next few days and everyone at the Capri is excited to see their patrons again.
The Capri has been a family owned business for 57 years.
Due to the State of Michigan shutting down indoor and outdoors theaters last spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Capri was not able to open until the middle of May.
Their frustrations with Governor Whitmer’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order was evident when the marquee said at one point, “Want to Open, Can’t, Call Gov, Thanks.”
The plight of the Capri was picked up by the Fox News Channel.
A large crowd turned out on opening night as the line of vehicles along U.S. 12 east of the Drive-in stretched for almost a mile.
The unseasonably warm weather last fall that stretched past Thanksgiving allowed the Capri to stay open until December 12.
It was the first time ever they were open in the month of December.
