UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Area law enforcement agencies are looking for the driver of a SUV that struck and injured a Union City man on Sunday morning.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says 59-year-old Robert Cook was hit on North Broadway and Foote Street in Union City at 10:19 a.m..
Witnesses state that they had seen Cook struck by the passing SUV as he had just stepped from his pickup to pick up some items left along the curb. Cook was transported to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo for treatment.
The suspect vehicle fled the scene. Undersheriff Keith Eichler says it was described as a clean black SUV with a white sticker on the hatch and possible damage to the right side front fender and mirror.
The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information should contact the Sheriff’s Office at 517-278-2325, extension 2185.
