COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County 911 Communications Board made three recommendation to the County Commissioners during a special meeting on Monday.
They recommended that Southern Michigan Bank and Trust be awarded their bid for financing the bonds which will be used to fund the County’s 911 Project.
Southern submitted a bid of less than one percent interest and County Administrator Bud Norman says it will give them financial flexibility.
The bid was 0.889 percent.
The 911 board also wanted the $9.3 million project to move forward even as the county is pursuing grants. Coldwater Fire Chief Dave Schmaltz said the sooner they can get new equipment, the better especially since it’s getting harder to find parts for the older equipment.
The third recommendation was to use the surcharge surplus collection to fund additional radio equipment and other costs.
