COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Bronson man has been charged with being in possession of child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime following an investigation by the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
32-year-old Rex Allen Otis III was arrested on March 4 and formally charged during his arraignment the following day in Branch County District Court.
He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary exam on April 1. Bond was set at $25,000 with ten percent allowed.
State Police say the investigation was initiated by the Fifth District Computer Crimes Unit in Coldwater when a suspect was found to be downloading a large amount of child sexually abusive material. A search warrant was conducted at Otis’ residence and troopers say digital evidence was seized.
An interview was conducted at the scene. An arrest warrant was issued for Otis and he was subsequently arrested.
