BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The girls basketball seasons ended for Coldwater, Quincy and Union City on Wednesday night in the district semifinals but Bronson will play for a district title on Friday night,
The Lady Cardinals lost at the Division One districts at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium as top-seeded Gull Lake pulled away in the final quarter to beat Coldwater 43-30.
The upset minded Cardinals got off to a fast start and had leads of 15-13 after the first quarter and 24-15 late in the second.
The Blue Devils started to turn the game in the favor by scoring the last four points of the first half to trail 24-19 at the break. Gull Lake’s senior laden team then clamped down defensively in the second half as Coldwater only scored six points.
A 9-2 third quarter gave Gull Lake a 28-26 lead and they sealed the game with a 15-4 final quarter.
Mallory Wilber played for the first time after being injured in the opening game on February 9. She led Coldwater with nine points. Jayla Foster had seven points and six rebounds.

Gull Lake will face Battle Creek Lakeview in Friday’s district title game at 6:00 p.m. after the Spartans defeated Sturgis 43-18.
Meanwhile, Bronson won their eighth straight game as the top-seeded Vikings advanced to the Division Three finals at White Pigeon with a 62-31 victory over Centreville. Meagan Lasky and Hayley Wilson both scored 17 points for the 12-3 Vikings. Bronson will face Schoolcraft at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night for the district title after the Eagles defeated White Pigeon 50-10.
Both Quincy and Union City were eliminated in the Division Three district semifinals at Concord. The Orioles were beaten by the host Yellow Jackets 46-31. Haley Hinds led Quincy with 10 points. The Chargers season ended with a 66-31 loss to Homer.
