LANSING, MI (WTVB) – 58th District State Representative Andrew Fink and other Republicans are taking issue with Governor Whitmer’s veto of Senate Bill 1 which was the latest attempt by the G.O.P. members of the State Legislature to limit the administration’s pandemic powers.
The legislation would have forced the director of the Department of Health and Human Services to get legislative approval for any safety orders longer than 28 days.
Fink had a problem with Whitmer’s statement in a letter that “epidemics are not limited to 28 days.”
Fink feels the veto is another example of the Governor cutting elected state Representatives out of the process.
The bill was tied to legislation spending federal money for schools, and that was also vetoed in conjunction.
