COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – All individuals that are 16 years of age and older who live or work in Branch, Hillsdale and St. Joseph Counties can now get a COVID-19 vaccination.
Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency Health Officer Rebecca Burns said in her report for Thursday’s Board of Health meeting that this action was taken after she talked about the lack of people signing up for COVID-19 vaccinations with her administrative team.
She says there are no longer any barriers to vaccination based on risk categorization. In an effort to remove even more barriers to vaccination, the Community Health Agency is providing vaccine to other local providers. Doses have been distributed to Colon Village Pharmacy, Fred’s Pharmacy in Three Rivers and Bronson City Pharmacy.
Burns says they are looking at other registered providers in the tri-county area.
Her report to the Board of Health on Thursday showed that as of Tuesday nearly 16 percent of Branch County residents, 14-point-three percent in Hillsdale County and 13-point-five percent in St. Joseph County have completed their COVID-19 shots.
The B.H.S.J.C.H.A. currently has the Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson and Johnson vaccines. The Johnson and Johnson vaccine has the added benefit of requiring only one dose.
Vaccination appointments can be made anytime of the day or night at the agency’s web site which is www.bhsj.org.
