QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles dropped their season opener to Adrian Madison 5-4 in nine innings on Monday afternoon.
The Orioles had a chance to tie or win the game in the last of the ninth inning but Quincy left the tying and winning runs in scoring position when the final out was recorded.
The Orioles used five different pitchers. The pitching crew gave up four earned runs on 11 hits but struck out a whopping 18 Madison hitters.
Brady Mescher led the way with 6 strike outs. The Orioles had seven hits and swiped 11 bases.
Mescher led the way with three hits including a double. Davin George fresh off the wrestling mat added a double. Quincy defended well and did not commit a fielding error while wiggling out of early inning jams.
