GRAND LEDGE, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Cardinals fans will be hoping they party like it’s 1999 on Thursday night.
Coldwater has earned the right to play for its first regional title in boys basketball in 22 years after the Cardinals defeated Portage Central 67-54 on Tuesday night in the Division One regional semifinals at Grand Ledge.
The Cardinals were in control for the entire game as they improved to 14-4. Coldwater led 19-12 after the first quarter and 35-24 at the half. They stretched their lead to 53-38 after three quarters.
Three Cardinals finished in double figures led by Brandon Downs with 22 points and three steals. Ethan Crabtree added 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists while Spencer Rodesiler had 12 points and six assists. Donte Work added eight points.
Coldwater will face East Lansing for the regional title on Thursday night after the Trojans defeated Holt in the other regional semifinal 65-56.
