COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic started just over a year ago, the Branch County Sheriff’s Department is trying to deal with positive COVID-19 cases in the county jail.
This comes as the positivity rate for COVID-19 cases in Branch County has recently gone up.
Jail Administrator Fred Blankenship says 14 male inmates have tested positive over the last couple of weeks.
He adds 10 of the 14 remain in quarantine. None of them have gotten sick enough to require hospitalization and Blankenship says there have been no major health problems among the inmates affected.
The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency offered COVID-19 vaccinations to the inmates who wanted a shot this week.
