COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After being quiet in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pat Lowe Field came to life on Tuesday afternoon as the Coldwater Cardinals opened the 2021 season with an 11-0 victory over the Three Rivers.
The game was stopped after four-and-a-half innings due to the 10 run mercy rule.
Coldwater scored twice in the first, added another run in the second and then put a snowman on the board in the third as eight men crossed the plate. Coldwater sent 13 men to the plate during their big inning.
Aiden Marsden had two hits for Coldwater while Logan Farmer had a RBI double.
Winning pitcher Brady McFarland struck out four in two innings of work.
The Cardinals return to action on April 10 when they host their annual Southern Michigan Bank and Trust Invitational.
The Coldwater J.V. baseball team swept a doubleheader at Battle Creek Lakeview by scores of 6-1 and 3-2. Tyson Roby and Brady Massey were the winning pitchers. Eddie Pool doubled in the first game. Evan Porter had a two bagger in the nightcap.
