KALAMAZOO, MI (WTVB) – The M.H.S.A.A. individual wrestling finals on Friday were plagued by a number of withdrawals due to COVID-19 contact tracing and protocols.
Among those forced to withdraw and were unable to compete in the Division Three finals at the Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo were Quincy’s Gerl Pish at 160 pounds and Tyler Saterlee at 189 pounds.
Their teammate Jacob Reif went 1-2 at 112 pounds and finished just one victory shy of making the podium.
Reif lost his opening round match on a 8-4 decision to Ty Whelan of Whitehall which dropped him into the consolation bracket.
Reif won his first consolation match on a 6-0 decision over Gibby Sheperd of Freeland but his second loss of the day to Noah Harris of Richmond on a 5-1 decision knocked Reif out of the tournament.
