COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Homer man has been charged with first degree home invasion, felony assault and domestic violence in connection with a March 20 incident at his girl friends apartment in Coldwater.
40-year-old Corey Tyler Baldridge was arraigned in Branch County District Court on Tuesday following a Coldwater Police investigation.
Prosecutors also filed a habitual offender fourth offense sentencing enhancer that carried a mandatory 25 year sentence.
According to court documents, an argument took place between Baldridge and his girl friend after he forced his way into the apartment.
The alleged victim claims the suspect picked up a knife, raised it above his head and brought his arm down in a stabbing motion twice. She say she was able to catch his arm and prevent him from stabbing her.
Baldridge is also accused in court documents of choking the woman before she got away.
He claims the woman originally had the knife and threw it down. Baldridge admitted to picking up the knife and holding it at shoulder level but he denied trying to stab the woman.
Bond has been set at $25,000. A no contact order on behalf of the alleged victim was also issued. probable cause hearing was scheduled for April 15 with a preliminary exam on April 20.
