COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – For the second straight game, the Coldwater Cardinals used a big sixth inning on Tuesday afternoon to rally past the Gull Lake Blue Devils 9-8 in a non-conference baseball game at Pat Lowe Field.
Gull Lake used a seven-run fourth inning to take a 7-1 lead before the Cardinals rallied.
They were down 7-2 entering the last of the sixth before they scored five runs to tie the game.
Cole Barker was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to cut the lead down to 7-3. Joe Closson and Aiden Marsden then followed with two-run singles.
The Blue Devils took the lead in the top of the seventh but Coldwater pushed across two in the last of the frame to win the contest. A passed ball brought in pinch runner Cole Smith with the tying run. The winning run scored on a bases loaded walk to Brady McFarland.
Clossen was the winning pitcher in relief for the second straight game as the Cardinals improved to 3-0.
