COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A man arrested last November after he fired a rifle at a Matteson Township home during a domestic dispute was sentenced on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
As part of a plea bargain agreement, 28-year-old Travis McCann entered guilty pleas to aggravated stalking as well as to a count of possession of less than 25 grams of a controlled substance in an unrelated case.
He was given concurrent nine month jail sentences on the two charges with 143 days credit for time already served.
He was also ordered to serve five years on probation for the aggravated stalking count with a concurrent 24 months of probation on the drug charge.
In exchange for the guilty pleas, all other charges in the two cases were dismissed by prosecutors which included counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, felony firearm and discharging a weapon from a vehicle.
The Michigan State Police say McCann fired a weapon in the 900 block of West Colon Road at around midnight on November 11, 2020 following a confrontation with a female acquaintance.
No injuries were reported. McCann was arrested a short time later in LaGrange County, Indiana on unrelated charges.
