OAKLAND, CA (WKZO AM/FM) – Matt Olson scored on an error by Jeimer Candelario in the ninth inning as the Athletics beat the Detroit Tigers 3-2 in Oakland to finish a four-game sweep.
Sean Murphy homered to tie the game in the eighth inning for the A’s. Chris Bassitt gave up two runs over six innings. Lou Trivino picked up the win as Oakland won for the ninth time in 10 games.
Harold Castro drove in both runs for the Tigers. Matthew Boyd only gave up two runs over seven-and-a-third innings for Detroit but allowed a game-tying homer in the eighth.
Gregory Soto took the loss as Detroit lost its fourth straight.
The Tigers come limping home from a 3-and-7 trip after getting swept by Oakland.
They started the trek by losing three straight at Cleveland before taking three straight at Houston. Detroit is last in the AL Central at 6-and-10. The Tigers host the Pirates starting tomorrow.
