COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Homer man entered a guilty plea to domestic violence second offense on Tuesday in Branch County District Court following an incident at a woman’s apartment in Coldwater last month.
40-year-old Corey Tyler Baldridge entered the plea on the day his preliminary exam was scheduled to take place.
He is scheduled to be sentenced in District Court on June 7.
In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors will dismiss three other counts including charges of first degree home invasion and felony assault.
Since the sentencing will take place in District Court, a habitual offender fourth offense sentencing enhancer had to be dropped.
Baldridge was arrested following a Coldwater Police investigation into an argument between him and the woman on March 20.
Baldridge was accused in court documents of choking the woman before she got away. He claims the woman originally had a knife and threw it down. Baldridge admitted to picking up the knife and holding it at shoulder level but he denied trying to stab the woman.
