COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The number of Branch County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 13 months since the world wide pandemic began has now topped 4,000.
The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reported on Tuesday 20 new cases in Branch County which brought the total up to 4,005.
Michigan has become a hot spot for the virus recently and data from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services recently showed Branch County was one of 24 counties in the state where the positivity rate on tests was 20 percent or higher.
Statistics from the Community Health Agency show how bad the recent surge has been. Almost 200 new cases have been reported in Branch County since April 12.
The Branch County death toll from the virus has increased to 91 which includes four deaths reported so far during the month of April.
