COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day as health and law enforcement officials work together to get surplus prescription drugs off the streets.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department is once again taking part in the effort. They are reminding residents they have a drop off box in their front lobby which is available 24 hours a day.
The drugs collected will be handed over to law enforcement officers and properly destroyed.
A 2015 study says 6.4 million Americans abuse controlled prescription drugs. About 40,000 opioid pills were collected during the 2018 Drug Take Back Day.
