BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – While just about everything else was rained out on the Branch County high school sports schedule for Thursday, the Bronson girls softball team managed to win both ends of a doubleheader over Athens by scores of 7-0 and 16-6.
First game winning pitcher Lynsey Smith tossed a two hitter and struck out five. Maddie Ratkowski, Addison Harris and Jaydn Cary all had two hits.
Harris was the winning pitcher in the second game as she allowed two earned runs in four innings. She helped her own cause at the plate with a double and two RBI’s. Mya Webb homered and Kaylee Withington went three-for-five with four RBI’s.
Bronson Head Coach Becky Grey said, “I feel like we are headed in the right direction. We are making small strides to become a better team. We just have to keep working and making ourselves better everyday.”
Bronson is now 10-5 overall and 6-0 in the Big 8 Conference. They will face Reading next Tuesday.
