STEUBEN COUNTY, IN (WTVB) – Not only is the Michigan Department of Transportation doing work on a 12 mile stretch of I-69 in Branch County this summer, an Indiana Department of Transportation resurfacing project on the interstate in the northern part of Steuben County is scheduled to start next Monday.
The project in Indiana is scheduled to be completed this fall with construction taking place on both sides of I-69 from the state line south to U.S. 20.
There will be alternating lane closures in both directions so drivers are being asked to stay alert.
MDOT is completing work on I-69 between Otis and Girard Roads and on three bridges over Fenn, State and Newton Roads.
The $7.7 million project started in 2020. The work includes pavement and joint repairs, resurfacing, crack sealing, and drainage improvements on the interstate.
One lane of I-69 will remain open in each direction. MDOT says the estimated end date for the work is August 27, 2021.
