HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Tulip Time in Holland is just part of the kickoff of the spring and summer tourism season in Michigan … and perhaps the nation.
The 38th National Travel and Tourism Week runs through Saturday, with a theme of “The Power of Travel.” Otie McKinley of Pure Michigan says that, with the nation coming out of the throes of the COVID 19 outbreak, it’s time to break away and hit the roads, the skies and the waters.
“It’s the power of bringing back our vibrant communities,” he said on “WHTC Morning News” during the weekly “Travel Michigan” segment on Friday (May 7, 2021). “(It’s) the power of restoring our US economy, rebuilding the workforce, and reconnecting America. The power of travel this year is more important and more valuable than it has been in recent history.”
Pure Michigan, in conjunction with over 30 Michigan Association of Convention and Visitor Bureau member destinations, is staging “The Great Michigan Scavenger Hunt and Giveaway,” along with a photo contest seeking favorite Michigan overnight vacation locations using #MIPowerofTravel, with prizes for those participating.
