JENISON, MI (WTVB) – Bronson advanced to the championship game of the Jenison girls softball invitational on Saturday before they lost to the host school.
Bronson defeated South Christian 10-0 in their opening game. Winning Pitcher Lynsey Smith threw a two hit shutout and struck out nine. Kaylee Withington drove in three runs while Caitlyn Hagen had two RBI’s. Dekoda Kline and Karissa Gest both had two hits.
Jenison defeated Bronson in the tournament’s title game 5-2. Jaydn Cary led the Vikings offense with three hits.
Coach Becky Gray said, “We played solid teams today and the girls rose to the occasion. We made strides today but still have things to improve upon. I felt the girls played intense and it was a good day.”
Bronson’s record is now 19-6. They will play Tuesday at Union City.
Also in girls softball on Saturday, Quincy lost a doubleheader at Olivet by scores of 5-0 and 13-4.
