MENDON, MI (WTVB) – Karsen Maurer blasted a three run home run in the top of the third to break a scoreless tie and the Quincy Orioles went on to defeat the Mendon Hornets 10-2 in a non conference game on Monday afternoon in Mendon.
Six Orioles pitchers, limited by pitch count rules, threw the seven inning game and held the Hornets to six hits while striking out nine.
Bradley Harper would be credited with the pitching victory. He was helped by Kyler Economou,
Karsen and Kyler Maurer, Lane Pearson and Brady Mescher.
The Orioles offense was led by Maurer’s big hit. Mescher and Economou added doubles, Blake Burkhart had two singles while Harper and Kyler Maurer each had two RBI’s.
The Orioles also swiped eight bases which gave them over 100 pilfered bases for the season.
The Orioles are now 9-11 will host Jonesville on Tuesday in a Big 8 Conference doubleheader.
