COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals extended their winning streak to nine games on Tuesday evening as they swept a Interstate 8 doubleheader from Jackson Lumen Christi by scores of 8-4 and 6-2 at Pat Lowe Field.
The winning pitchers for the Cardinals helped their own cause in both games.
Brynden Massey went the first six innings in the opener to earn the win. He also delivered four hits at the plate and drove in two runs. Logan Farmer added three hits while Cole Smith had three RBI’s.
Second game winning pitcher Aiden Marsden went five plus innings. At the plate, he had two hits including a double and drove in four runs. Farmer tripled and had two RBI’s. Joe Closson got out a bases loaded jam in the top of the seventh to earn the save.
The Cardinals are now 19-5 overall and 8-3 in the Interstate 8.
In other Branch County baseball on Tuesday, Quincy swept a doubleheader from Jonesville by scores of 5-3 and 10-3.
Bronson scored six runs in the top of the seventh to defeat Union City 12-10 in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader. Mason Harris delivered a two-run double in the top of the seventh to snap a 10-10 tie. The Vikings also won the second game 15-5.
