COLON, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers split their two games at the Joe Smolarz Invitational in Colon on Saturday.
After losing 20-0 to Kalamazoo Christian in a game they were not able to get any hits, the Chargers bounced back to defeat Marcellus 12-0.
Owen Jackson was the winning pitcher against Marcellus as he tossed a five-inning two hitter and struck out six. He also helped his own cause with three RBI’s. Ryan Zweng had two hits and drove in three runs.
Union City’s record is now 13-15.
Also in baseball on Saturday, Bronson lost to Three Rivers 5-1 and Parchment 11-0 in their Polish Classic Tournament.
Quincy was beaten twice in the Al Glick Tournament in Jackson County. The Orioles lost to Manchester 8-6 and Jackson Lumen Christi 15-0.
