OVID TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Road Commission is letting residents know a portion of South Angola Road, also known as Old U.S. 27, in Ovid Township will be closed starting next Monday, July 5, so that the bridge over the Coldwater River can be replaced.
Signs have already been posted along South Angola Road which will be closed between Central and Paradine Roads.
South Angola Road traffic will be detoured onto Central, Paradine and Fillmore Roads.
Branch County Road Commission Manager Jay Miller says the $1.3 million project is scheduled to finish by the end of October. The local contribution is just under $923,000 which Miller says is coming through grants.
Trucks are being encouraged to use I-69 during the bridge work.
The bridge work is part of what is expected to be a busy summer for the Branch County Road Commission.
Among the sealcoating projects will be about nine miles of pavement on Jonesville Road from Marshall Road east to the Hillsdale County county line as well as over seven miles of Marshall Road from State Road north to the Calhoun County line. That work is scheduled to start during the week of July 12 at a cost of over $480,000.
