BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The late Paul Harvey used to say, “You can run, but you can’t hide.”
That will be the situation for drivers in Branch County over the next couple of months as they will have to deal with a large and inescapable amount of road construction projects.
Another project has been added to the ever growing list as the Michigan Department of Transportation says construction work is scheduled to start July 19 on the entire length of M-86 in Branch County.
There will be single lane closures from the split with U.S. 12 next to the Branch County Memorial Airport all the way west to North Burr Oak Road east of Colon.
The project is scheduled to be completed by October 22.
This follows the announcement that U.S. 12 between Western Avenue and Division Street in Coldwater will be closed for a week starting on Monday as a $1-point-4 million MDOT resurfacing project gets underway. Traffic will be detoured onto Butters, Garfield and Clay/Division Street.
Western Avenue and State Street from Grand Street to Bishop Avenue is closed until the end of August for resurfacing.
Sauk River Drive remains closed between South Sprague and South Willowbrook Road as road widening continues following the installation of a larger water main.
The completion of the North Monroe Street project was delayed in part due to the heavy amount of rain that fell in late June. It was originally scheduled to be finished by Memorial Day.
To the south of Coldwater, a portion of Old U.S. 27 in Ovid Township is closed for at least the next three months as a bridge is being replaced over the Coldwater River. Old 27, which is also known as South Angola Road, is closed between Central and Paradine Roads. Traffic is being detoured onto Central, Paradine and Fillmore Roads.
