UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Village of Union City has posted a video on its Facebook page which showed the village police and fire departments rescuing a horse which got stuck in a “Dead Man’s Hallow” swamp last Saturday night during the Union City fireworks show.
Village officials say the horse was attached to an Amish Buggy but broke free from a tree after it got scared by the fireworks show just after 10:00 p.m..
The horse ran deep into the swamp and got stuck up to its neck in the mud.
The fire department worked for about a half hour to free the horse safely.
They eventually brought it and the buggy it was attached to out of the swamp.
No injuries were reported.
