The family will receive friends for visitation Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Marjorie was the oldest of four children, born on April 24, 1928 in Batavia MI, to Robert and Elizabeth (Fisher) White. Marjorie spent her childhood roaming the wide open spaces surrounding her country home, which fostered her life-long curiosity and love of adventure.
She graduated from Coldwater High School in 1946 and immediately began a career in the personnel department at Federal Mogul. Marjorie was a responsible, dependable and conscientious employee. While working there she was fortunate to form friendships that were important to her for the rest of her life. The fiends continued to meet regularly to celebrate birthdays and friendship for over 50 years.
Following her career at Federal Mogul, Marjorie also worked for many years as a secretary at the Branch, Hillsdale, St Joe Co Health Department and also in the medical records department at the Coldwater Hospital.
Marjorie married Dana Sebald on April 4, 1959 at the United Methodist Church in Coldwater, MI. Their marriage lasted 54 years until Dana’s death in 2013. They had one daughter, Janna Sebald. Marjorie was a devoted wife and mother. She was meticulous (some would say “fussy”) homemaker. She loved to cook and bake. Her meatballs and cherry and apple pies were favorites. Her care for those she loved extended to her cats and she always had a special treat of rotisserie chicken in the fridge for them.
Marjorie loved to travel and she and Janna enjoyed many wonderful travel adventures together both within and outside the US. But she was also happy just going for a car ride around the lakes or countryside, to watch the changing of the four seasons, often stopping at a fruit stand where she would buy fruit to make her pies. She looked forward to day trips to Lake Michigan to walk a pier, have a nice lunch and watch the waves. She also loved pontoon rides on Coldwater’s North Chain of Lakes where she lived for many years.
Marjorie was proud of her Dutch heritage and looked forward to visits from family from the Netherlands. She anticipated these visits from the moment planning began. Family was very important to her and her life was filled with family from a young age when her mom and aunts would often gather round the table for tea or a meal. Marjorie enjoyed entertaining and was a gracious hostess, serving many friends and family around her table. In her later years she looked forward to weekly coffee visits from her brother Jim.
Marjorie was blessed to have lived a good and full life doing things she loved with the people she cared about. She is survived by her daughter Janna Sebald (Kim Kaechele), brothers Robert (Kathryn) and Jim (Virginia) White; sister Joyce (Bruce) Sanders, sister-in-law Rita Sebald, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was a lifelong member of the Coldwater United Methodist Church. Memorial donations may be made to the United Methodist Church, the Branch County Humane Society, the Branch Area Food Pantry or the Tibbits Opera House.
