David Lysle Luke, 62, of Coldwater, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021 in Detroit, MI.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Coldwater First Baptist Church with Bob Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 13, 2021 from 5-7:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
David was born February 19, 1959 in Jackson, MI to Lysle & Mary (Snyder) Luke. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University, graduating with honors in 1981. David worked for the Branch County Sherriff’s Dept. for 11 years and also served on the Marine Patrol. He drove for BATA bus and also worked for ADAPT.
David was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coldwater and very proud to be an Eagle Scout. He was highly intelligent and an avid history buff, especially biblical and gun history. He enjoyed studying philosophy and theology and was very devout in his convictions. David appreciated the beauty of nature and loved traveling to national parks.
David is survived by his mother Mary Luke of Coldwater, his brother Larry (Amy) Luke of Florence, AZ, his sister Kristine (Michael) Gatke of Coldwater, nieces and nephews Kerri (Corey) Parker, Sarah (Joseph) Renshaw, Josilyn Parker, Crosby Parker, Boston Renshaw and twins Huxley and Sailor Renshaw. He was preceded in death by his father Lysle Luke.
