COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council and the Coldwater Community Schools Board of Education Monday night each approved the renewal of an agreement to keep a School Resource Officer at Coldwater High School.
Coldwater Public Safety Director Joe Scheid said in his letter to the City Council, “While last year was definitely not a normal year due to COVID, we, along with the Coldwater Community Schools, felt the project yielded many positive outcomes.”
Coldwater police officer Robin Swartz will continue as the School Resource Officer.
To fund the program, Coldwater Community Schools pays the city to cover 75 percent of the costs, with grant funds covering much of the school’s portion.
As the School Resource Officer, Swartz is on duty during the regularly scheduled school day. She may also be assigned to home high school football and basketball games as well as to other events.
The school board Monday also renewed an agreement with ProMedica Coldwater Community Hospital to provide school health nurses and social workers in the district’s buildings.
